Tom Gerou

Tom Gerou is the author of over 160 active publications including those at his own publishing company, TomGerouMusic.com. His pieces are currently included in the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus, Trinity College London Syllabus, and the National Federation of Music Clubs Bulletin. After studying music in his native North Dakota, Tom graduated with honors from the University of Southern California, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in composition. He continued his education as a Charles H. Ditson Scholar at Yale University, receiving his Master of Music degree in composition. Tom has been awarded two Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards for best original theatrical music, a Morton Gould Young Composer Award, two Rena Greenwald Awards, a commission from the Music Teachers National Association Collaborative Commissioning Project, numerous Music Publishers Association Paul Revere Awards, and the Jimmy McHugh Composition Prize. Prior to publishing, he worked extensively in the dance and theater fields, both as a keyboardist and composer.

 

Tom’s experience includes that of Vice President of Production, Piano Editor-In-Chief, and Director of Keyboard Operations at Alfred Publishing, and Interim Head of Music Publications at Trinity College London Press. Tom is known to combine his design and illustration talents with his experience as a composer and pianist to create outstanding publications known throughout the music publishing industry. His outgoing personality allows him to excel as a popular piano clinician, offering special insight into music composition, teaching, and performance. He has presented throughout Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States.
